KALAMAZOO, Mich. (August 13, 2008) - The Western Michigan women’s soccer team will host IUPUI in an exhibition match on Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Western Michigan Soccer Complex.

This will be the first of two exhibition matches for the Broncos, who open regular season play on Friday, Aug. 22, when they host Wyoming.

WMU will welcome Davenport on Sunday, Aug. 17, at noon for their final exhibition before the regular season. The Broncos are led by captains Cassandra Nelson, Ashleigh Carpentier and Hillary Wernlund and head coach Mike Haines, who returns for his tenth season. WMU looks to rebound from a 4-11-3 finish from the 2007 season in which they scored only 10 goals. However, the Broncos did record five shutouts and return a core group in the midfield and backfield as well as solid recruiting class.

The Jaguars are coming off a 3-12-3 season in 2007 and have been picked to finish in seventh in the Summit League preseason poll. IUPUI returns seven starters and is coached by Chris Johnson.
