St. Joseph keeper camp planned

St. Joseph, MI (May 30, 2008) - Chris Haack has announced the dates for a soccer goalkeeper camp to be held on June 23 - 27, 2008 at Upton Middle School, in St. Joseph from 3:00-4:45pm daily. This camp is designed for the middle school- or high school-aged player who is learning to be a goalkeeper or who has played goalkeeper but has had little formal training at this position. the camp is open to boys and girls and will teach the basic skills of goalkeeping and also help intermediate goalkeepers achieve the next level of play.

Instructional points will include proper techniques for catching, punching, tipping, diving, and distributing (kicking, punting, and throwing). Players will also learn how to cut-down angles, set-up the defense for walls and corner kicks, deal with breakaways, increase their chances on saving penalty kicks, etc.

Goalkeepers will be taught how to "read" the game so that they will be able to anticipate their next moves without having to resort to the desperate or spectacular. Goalkeepers will also become familiar with the Laws of the Game and how they relate to their unique position.

College National All-Star 1999 --- Assistant Coach - St. Petersburg (Fla.) Catholic and Niles High School
Former Women's Coach for Buchanan High School and Current Women's Coach for Niles High School 2008 Sportsfest Women's Head Coach

Also helping will be Casey Janick
Former goalkeeper for St. Joseph High School and current Albion College star player

Cost of the camp is $125.
