Thursday match

Galaxy score late, take SuperClasico
CARSON, Calif. -- Paulo Nagamura and Atiba Harris gave Chivas USA a second-half lead, but the Los Angeles Galaxy came back to score a late goal on an Alan Gordon header in stoppage time as the teams played to a 2-2 draw before a sellout crowd Thursday at The Home Depot Center. The game concluded the 2008 edition of the SuperClįsico as the Galaxy reclaimed the trophy handed out annually to the series winner. Chivas USA took the series last year on the strength of two 3-0 wins down the stretch.

Saturday matches

Crew rally in second half to beat FCD
COLUMBUS -- The FC Dallas shutout streak had just reached 265 minutes and the Columbus Crew had not scored in 167 but all that changed quickly thanks to the work of Crew forward Guillermo Barros Schelotto. The Argentinean standout showed why he is the MLS assists leader, notching his 11th and 12th of the season in a three-minute stretch of the second half that helped turn a first-half deficit into a 2-1 Columbus victory before the largest crowd this season at Crew Stadium.

Fred, United spoil McBride's return
BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. -- D.C. United got a goal from Fred in the 27th minute and held on the remainder of the way, for a 1-0 victory Saturday night against the Chicago Fire. Brian McBride made his Chicago debut, coming on at halftime and nearly scored the equalizer, but saw it stopped by United goalkeeper Louis Crayton, who was making his MLS debut.

Houston holds on to beat RSL
HOUSTON -- Needing a win to take over first place in the Western Conference, the Houston Dynamo didn't get off to the best start. But, after falling behind after just three minutes, the Dynamo regrouped to score four goals in the first half and held on to defeat Real Salt Lake 4-3 on Saturday at Robertson Stadium, extending their winning streak to three games and unbeaten streak to six games. Real Salt Lake saw their unbeaten streak end at four games.

Rapids cash in twice in win over K.C.
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. -- The Colorado Rapids put a new twist on an old trick early Saturday against the Kansas City Wizards. After going two games dominating offensively without anything to show for it, the Rapids got goals from Conor Casey early in each half for a 2-1 win at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. The Rapids had a handful of significant changes to their lineup Saturday, with Preston Burpo defending the net in place of Bouna Coundoul, and Christian Gomez starting the game on the bench while Jacob Peterson filled his shoes on the attack. Newly acquired Cory Gibbs stepped into the back line with Ugo Ihemelu unavailable with a concussion, and defender Mike Petke made his first start of the season after a long recovery from a late season injury last year. Nick LaBrocca started in the midfield with Colin Clark sitting out a suspension.

Earthquakes shake, rattle Revolution
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- The San Jose Earthquakes attempt to climb out of the Western Division cellar got another step up Saturday night as they beat a depleted New England Revolution 4-0 at Buck Shaw Stadium. Ronnie O'Brien scored two goals and set up another, with Ryan Johnson and Scott Sealy also scoring as the Quakes scored three goals in 17 minutes late in the game. With the victory, San Jose has won two games in a row for the first time this season, and is now is unbeaten in their last five matches. New England's loss drops them to second place in the Eastern Conference, one point behind Columbus.

Sunday match

Red Bulls down TFC to break tie in standings
E. RUTHERFORD. N.J. -- A week after rallying from a goal down to win for the first time this season, the New York Red Bulls again found a way to secure a vital three points in the face of adversity, defeating Eastern Conference rival Toronto FC 2-0 on Sunday at Giants Stadium despite playing nearly the entire second half down a man. The winning goal was scored by Mike Magee in the 37th minute. Magee found the back of the net in back-to-back games for the first time in his career. The Red Bulls buckled down defensively after defender Gabriel Cichero was sent off with a straight red card one minute into the second half.
